There was once young man
Who was a lover, not a fighter.
Though he had a peaceful nature,
He was called to serve for a brighter future.
They took his ballpoint pen
And gave him a steel knife instead.

Young man, are you still whole?
Are you patching up pieces of your shattered soul?
How many lives must you take
Before your conscience start to shake?
You tell yourself you are a hero
As you take down another foe.
The stench of metallic blood
Head to toe caked with mud
"Get up! This is war,kid."
Another man down, Heaven forbid.

I visit you every Sunday.
A white lily I always lay
For the peaceful young man I could not save
Who was sent to his early grave.
In the arms of the loving Earth
Where gold medals of Honor have no worth
I look up to the blue Heavens above
The bright future you will never know of.
