It's 7am and you have to get out of bed — but you're so tired, even though you had eight hours of sleep...and you even had time for a nap the day before. What's wrong?
According to Dr. Oyie Balburias in an episode of "Pinoy MD", you might be suffering from a condition called "morning sluggishness" and he further explained that when it comes to sleep, quality matters as much as quantity.
"Maaaring ang isang sanhi niyan ay ang kalidad nang iyong pagtulog," Dr. Oyie said. "Minsan nakakatulog tayo, pero kung hindi natin naabot 'yong antas o estado nang pagtulog, hindi nito naiibigay ang tinatawag nating recuperating sleep kaya we still feel tired and sluggish sa umaga."
Dr. Oyie said that it's important to find out if there are underlying causes that prevents a person from reaching restful sleep like sleep disorder breathing e.g. obstructive sleep apnea.
