To fix the current read-only state of your USB, you can try the following solutions:

1. Check the physical write protection switch: Some USB drives have a physical switch that allows you to enable or disable write protection. Locate the switch on your USB drive and make sure it is not in the locked position.

2. Change the permissions of the USB drive: Right-click on the USB drive icon, select "Properties," and navigate to the "Security" tab. Click on "Edit" and then select your user account. Make sure that the "Allow" box is checked for the "Full Control" permission. Click "Apply" and then "OK" to save the changes.

3. Modify the Registry: This method requires caution and should only be done if you are comfortable working with the Windows Registry. Follow these steps:

a. Press Windows + R to open the Run dialog box, type "regedit," and hit Enter.
b. In the Registry Editor, navigate to the following key: HKEY_LOCAL_MACHINE\SYSTEM\CurrentControlSet\Control\StorageDevicePolicies
c. If you can't find the "StorageDevicePolicies" key, right-click on the "Control" folder, select "New," and then choose "Key." Name the new key "StorageDevicePolicies."
d. Right-click on the "StorageDevicePolicies" key, select "New," and then choose "DWORD (32-bit) Value." Name the new value "WriteProtect."
e. Double-click on the "WriteProtect" value and set its value data to "0" to disable write protection.
f. Close the Registry Editor and restart your computer.

4. Format the USB drive: If none of the above methods work, you may need to format the USB drive. Please note that formatting will erase all data on the drive, so make sure to back up any important files before proceeding. Right-click on the USB drive, select "Format," choose the file system you want to use, and click "Start" to initiate the formatting process.

If none of these solutions solve the issue, there might be a hardware problem with the USB drive itself. In that case, it may be necessary to replace the drive.
