NASA posted a photo of the dwarf planet Pluto on the 93rd anniversary of its discovery on February 18, 1930.
The image was taken by NASA's New Horizons spacecraft with its Long Range Reconnaissance Imager and Ralph/Multispectral Visible Imaging Camera.
Scientists believe that the spectacular blue haze in the photo is a photochemical smog resulting from the action of sunlight on methane and other molecules in Pluto's atmosphere.
Since its discovery, the dwarf planet has yet to make a complete orbit around the Sun.
