Duterte's government might allow China to take Hanjin Port in Subic.

If this pushes thru, I think it will be one of the worst things that can happen to the country. Why? Because Hanjin port (a former USA strategic military naval base) is protecting The West Philippine Sea. Once it's in the hands of China, they have a military and strategic position in the region which, for sure will worry big powers like the US, Japan, Australia...

At a local level, thousands of Filipinos will lose their jobs as chinese workers will be the ones hired... then they will totally control the fishing grounds in the WPS... no more fish for Filipinos, except the one fished by the chinese in our waters and sold to us (like the galunggung)

China is spreading its hegemony in S-E Asia with the help of duterte Like they already did in
Djibouti (Africa) in 2017 were they set up a military base...

If they get Hanjin Port, they will have 2 feet na in our country! Duterte was not joking when he said that he will be happy if the Philippines was a province of china he is doing everything he can for us to get there...

In "normal" times, yes... but we are not living in "normal" times anymore as duterte grabs all the powers (executive, judicial and soon legislative) so whatever he wants, he will get! If he decides that Hanjin can become a chinese naval base, no problem!!
That's why I wish the Senate has more opposition Senators to balance his power. A man who has all powers in a country is just a dictator ...and then the democracy dies...

yes but as stated by the law, sole proprietorship of foreign national on a company is prohibited here in PH. kaya nga diba yung bidding for 3rd telco ay dapat may counterpart na filipino investor to bypass that. and china doesnt need a naval base here in the philippines. redundant na masyado. take US as an example. they left subic then rely on allied countries for any operations cause its more cost effective than having a naval base. and if youve been to Hanjin Shipyard. youll notice how limited the area is compare to build a naval base that require vast area for full operations. Its a shipyard and will remain a shipyard. if di ka pa nakakita ng shipyard then its not my problem anymore.
