Employees should be encouraged to return to the office as remote work options cut down consumption and slow down the economy, a member of President Ferdinand “Bongbong” Marcos Jr.’s Private Sector Advisory Council (PSAC) said.

In a televised public briefing, PSAC Lead for Jobs and Go Negosyo founder Jose Ma. “Joey” Concepcion III said he had mixed views on having work-from-home or remote job options following the COVID-19 pandemic.

“Kasi kapag work-from-home tayo, anong mangyayari sa Pilipinas. There will be less mobility. If there is less mobility, there is less consumption,” said Concepcion.

“Iyong work-from-home, okay lang iyan sa pandemya, pero sa panahon natin ngayon, wala namang pandemic eh. So dapat tuluy-tuloy ang (we should continue the) encouragement to work-from-office para may disiplina rin (so there would also be discipline),” he added.

“Siyempre (Of course) I understand that certain sectors, they can work-from-home because they are in the IT (information technology) sector. But I would really encourage that we, to stimulate the economy, we have to encourage more mobility,” Concepcion said.

“If there is no mobility, there will be very weak consumer spending and that will lead to a lower number in our growth of the Philippines,” he added.

Walang pakialamanan kung gusto namin mag work from home.

Technically, he is not wrong.

In reality there is no economy generated sa 3-4hrs hrs na nakaupo ka sa traffic.

actually we have a very low carbon emission during pandemic, transportation is the main source of pollution so i would support work from home for home-doable jobs, di naman totoo yung reduced consumer spending kasi nauubos pa din pera ng tao kahit work from home, they just stop spending on mobility but that doesn't mean itinago lang nila pera nila

Yup, expenses are diverted to other forms, gaya ng mga lazada, shoppee at mga online orders ng food.

At kahit naman ipunin nila yan, most likely gagastusin nila for other thing like travel, home, or vehicle.

Close minded sa idea ng economics ung speaker na yan, and we can say he wants us to stay in the poor economy structure he is more familiar with.

ok lang sana maging pulpul yung president basta mag hire lang siya ng malulupit sa staff niya, but it turned out mga pulpul din advisers niya haha

yung iba naman kasi, kahit d nmn work from home ang trabaho, gusto na ipermis na work from home - eh sa hindi ganon yung platform ng trabahong nakuha nila. lipat sila ng work na full wfh very simple,

ang tanong, fit ba sila for a work from home. malamang hindi. '

saka prior pandemic, nag aggree sila na willing to work sila 8 to 5 Monday to Friday. tapos ngayong ibabalik lang yung dati, ayaw na.

thats just how the business works.

Most companies naman can adjust since most jobs can be done at home. Kaya nga ganyan ginawa sa ibang bansa. Ewan kolang talaga sa work ethics ng ibang tao. My work efficiency increased 120% kaya sunod sunod promotion ko since after WFH.

Good For you bro. Keep up the good work.

as i'm saying an not to generalize, pag nsa bahay ang wala sa focus for work kasi my ibang responsibilities sa bahay, yung iba nmn talagang literal na tamad at gagawa ng paraan para mailusot ang WFH. meron pa jan,WFH na late pa mag time in. and sa opinion ko, ito yung mga klase ng emplyado na tamad talga, magulang, at abusado. d talga mawawalan ng ganito sa work. and nkakahawa to sa workplace which is realy bad for the business and the team.

ang daming good benefit ng WFH kung tutuusin, specially dun sa mga parents na my inaalagaan na baby and ãdül†, sa mga hirap sa commute due to bad transportation accessibility. mga lawball salary, ang laking tipid sa pamasahe.
