Fair enough. But 90% of the people who owns one - do not read it. And the other 10% lie about it.

I think those years were spent on adding, removing and editing parts because of conflicts and unify the ideas feom different literature. Despite the elaborate efforts, we still find conflicts today. They stopped editing the Bible once they realized that the cognitive dissonance of the followers is enough for them to ignore the conflicts.

It depends on how you look at it. We can also say that some fans of the Bible expressed themselves through the contemporary art of their time. Which points to christian the one being influenced by the current art, not the other way around.
The period where the bible became a staple in art was the Renaissance, but these artist were eliminated by the church for being "heretics", some of them were burnt on a stake. It mirrors the recent case of Pura Luka.
