"Planned Obsolescence for Lower API models" - Google and Samsung

This is probably the last update I am giving you. There was a file received as a Prerequisite in the Database Center whereas there is Planned Obsolescence to devices that have lower API models. This means that devices that have surpassed the cycle model will NOT be updated anymore. Flagship devices such as S series and Note Series have a cycle for up to 3 years of update. Mid-range devices such as A series have a cycle for up to 1 and a half to 2 years depending on the capability of the phone. Low-range devices such as J and C series only have a cycle of up to 1 year. Samsung J7 Prime was released on September 2016 (that's 1 year and 7 months now). The update for the device was already cut 7 months ago. Notice that there was no update since, right? We're stuck at June security ρá†ch. And F variants are stuck at August security ρá†ch (prior to when the update has been cut).

Now, if you're asking why other variants have received the update is because of how the firmware will be distributed to mass users. F variants have more users than Y variants. Alongside with M variants although not all M variants have received the Nougat firmware. This is in line with the planned obsolescence of the device. While distributing the firmware to M variants, SM-G610X and other devices have reached 1 year of the cycle. In this case, it was prompt to cut the update to models who are prior to planned obsolescence. That's why some only got the update.

In relation to my previous post, Y variants have a very low chance of receiving the Nougat update because there's still M variants who have far more users than Y variants. If the M variants update cycle has not been completed, then it will end there. UNLESS, Google and Samsung will reconsider updating ALL variants to Nougat.

Question: How about the Oreo update?
Answer: Yes, Oreo update for J7 Prime is in development. However, I clearly stated that some regions and models will receive the Oreo update and some will not. J7 Prime models who are in-line and locked with T-Mobile will receive the Oreo update since T-Mobile was one of the factors why J7 Prime will have Oreo. Although, there was no update after that. It is still UNSURE if J7 Prime will be contracted to Planned Obsolescence. But hopes are very low in my opinion. So, there's only 5%-10% chance SM-G610Y will receive the Nougat update.

dito po ako kumuha ng rom tapos ginamit ko ay ung Odin.. always use the latest odin po mga boss. pwede pong gumamit ng F variant sa Y.. basta parehas lang po ang specs mga boss.. GOod luck po...

Tinry ko po mag flash pero ang nangyayari po sa odin is nag stuck sya sa "Get pit for mapping" then mga 10 minutes biglang mag fail .. tapos lahat po ba ng mga file nilagay nyo?? .. yung mga "AP , CSC, etc.." .. thank you po sana maka reply ka agad

Update ko lang kayo mga ka-PHC! Nais ko pong ibahagi ang magandang balita. Nagagalak po akong ipaalam na successful ang pag-Upgrade ko ng official rom ng J7 Prime SM-G610Y ko! Gamit ang ODIN. Hindi nga lang po official Philippines Firmware pero official po sya na ROM ng New Zealand (latest) meaning hindi mo kailangan daanin sa santong Paspasan kahit Santong dasalan nalang.. hehe☺ hindi na kailangan iroot ang phone mo at hindi din risky. So ayun kahit i-Flash nyo po lahat ng laman ng ROM tatanggapin nya kasi nga po para na ito sa SM-G610Y na variant. So far wala naman po akong nakikitang problems or "Bug" sa paggamit ko. Tuwang tuwa po ako na sa wakas maeexperience ko na Nougat 7.0 at hindi po nagalaw ang mga Files ko at settings hindi ko po sya ni-Reset kaya para ka naring nag-OTA! Pero better to backup your files padin in case of something that might happen during upgrade. And make sure you have your back-up Stock of your Marshmallow ROM.

Ayun na nga working yung New Zealand nougat ROM. Walang kaproblem-problem..
