The Pasay City prosecutor’s preliminary investigation into the charge of importation of îllégâl drugs filed against Juanito Remulla II quickly ended on Wednesday after the defendant did not file a counter-affidavit.

He is currently detained at Las Piñas City Jail in connection with possession of îllégâl drugs charges lodged against him.

Due to the lack of a counter-affidavit, Senior Deputy City Prosecutor Joselito de Asas, Senior Assistant City Prosecutors Allan Mangabat and Serafin Salazar will now proceed with studying the complaints of the Philippine Drug Enforcement Agency and the Bureau of Customs to decide whether the case should be brought to the courts.

Remulla's legal counsel Kit Belmonte did not provide an explanation why their camp did not submit a counter-affidavit.

“Submitted na for resolution. Okay na 'to. 'Yun na 'yun. Wala na, tapos na,” he told reporters.

(It was submitted for resolution. That’s it. It’s finished.)

The OCP said it will not follow a deadline on Remulla II’s cases. No special treatment will also be given to it, the prosecutors added.

Remulla was arrested on October 11 for receiving a package of high-grade ********* worth P1.3 million in Las Piñas. The PDEA announced his arrest two days later and filed a complaint of drugs importation against him.
