Gospel:
John 6:51-58
Jesus said to the Jewish crowds:
"I am the living bread that came down from heaven;
whoever eats this bread will live forever;
and the bread that I will give
is my flesh for the life of the world."

The Jews quarreled among themselves, saying,
"How can this man give us his flesh to eat?"
Jesus said to them,
"Amen, amen, I say to you,
unless you eat the flesh of the Son of Man and drink his blood,
you do not have life within you.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
has eternal life,
and I will raise him on the last day.
For my flesh is true food,
and my blood is true drink.
Whoever eats my flesh and drinks my blood
remains in me and I in him.
Just as the living Father sent me
and I have life because of the Father,
so also the one who feeds on me
will have life because of me.
This is the bread that came down from heaven.
Unlike your ancestors who ate and still died,
whoever eats this bread will live forever."

This gospel can be related to a short and well known saying that you have likely heard before:

"You are what you eat"

This saying does not mean you are slowly transforming into a bowl of rice. We all understand that it is explaining that whatever vitamins and minerals we absorb in our physical body is directly dependent on the food you eat. This is regardless of you seeing and believing in the existence of the vitamins and minerals. You are, in essence, what you eat.

The mind, the seat of thought and emotion, is the same. You are what you feed your mind. In this mundane world we live in, it is so easy for us to feed our mind "junk foods".

We watch the news pretending it is informing us, but deep inside, we know that it is entertainment, chasing views, and will push whatever buttons to pull in audience.

We seek silly content from social media, shallow jokes, empty quotes, uninformed emotional opinion... mostly to confirm what we already think. Yet we wonder why it is so hard to change our life, which is a joke, is empty, and full of emotional opinions.

"You are what you eat". So if you feed your mind junk, your mind will be filled with junk. Just like our body, our thought, our mind also needs healthy food.

My friends, I am an atheist, and I do not believe in the superstitious and the supernatural. But Jesus, wether he is a fictional character or real, in this gospel he teaching us to accept his words, and through this, we will be capable of doing things that are not natural to us... that are supernatural to us. And through this works, you will be remembered, your soul, your legacy, your essence, YOU.. - even when the body expires - will live forever.
