Also MERS and SARS are in the same family with NCOV (Novel-CoronaVirus) - 'novel' means new. And among the three, MERS is the most deadly with 30% mortality rate, SARS at 10% and this new strain of corona-virus being 2.5-3%. For now, I think the information about this new outbreak is being covered up.
They say 2000+ confirmed cases but there might be around 50-100k unconfirmed but soon to be confirmed cases.
This is not confirmed yet but, what I know about this virus is that it has an incubation period of 1-14 days. Meaning, during this period, an infected individual is capable of infecting everyone without showing any symptoms. Which is worrying because this is one of the best way to spread a pathogen.
They deliberately withholding this information to the public to not cause a panic.
So should you be worried? Yes, and prepare for the worst because there's always be a possibility of mutation. It could either weaken or strengthen the virus. Whichever the case may be is going to be dangerous.
