Philippines is the first country in Southeast Asia for Elon Musk's SpaceX internet service

Elon Musk’s Space Exploration Technologies Corp. (SpaceX) proposed project in the country is expected to be finalized in the remaining three months or before President Duterte steps down from office, making the Philippines the first country in Southeast Asia to host the fast broadband facility via satellite, Trade and Industry Secretary Ramon M. Lopez announced.

SpaceX will provide internet services in the Philippines using its Low Earth Orbit (LEO) satellite network constellation called Starlink. DTI Sec. Lopez said that preparations are underway for their registration, as discussed in the recent meeting among him, SpaceX senior executives Rebecca Hunter and Ryan Goodnight, NTC Deputy Commissioner Edgardo Cabarios and DFNN Executive Chairman Ramon Garcia Jr.

Expect na medyo mahal talaga yung Starlink. Target market naman nila diyan yung mga nasa liblib na lugar na hindi naaabot ng regular internet infrastructure.

Halimbawa yung mga exclusive resort-hotels na nasa mga undeveloped na isla o yung mansyon na isolated sa kabihasnan. Pwede ring backup ng mga LGUs kapag binagyo at nasira yung ibang means of communications.

Bababa pa siguro presyo ng serbisyo nila kapag ma-achieve na nila economies of scale o kung magawa pa nilang mas mura yung technology.
