2. Write a 2- to 3-page
REACTION PAPER on this topic. Relate this article to the discussions on
Local and Global Communication in Multicultural Settings and on Language Register.
Lesson 4 provides you with a discussion on how to write a Reaction paper. Here is an outline:
INTRODUCTION (1 or 2 paragraphs)
- contains the title, author, and source of the information you read
- gives a brief summary of what you read (in a nutshell)
-includes a concise, one sentence focused thesis--
the thesis statement or sentence which is the focus of your reaction paper in which you agree, disagree, identify or evaluate the ideas in your thesis statement
- BODY (2-3 paragraphs)
- -contains paragraphs that provide support for your thesis; each paragraph has only one main idea; the final sentence of your paragraph should lead into the next paragraph
- -each paragraph contains a topic sentence that supports the thesis statement
- -to prove your point, provide details, examples and quotations
- -relate your ideas to culture [culture of technology], communication, and language [register]
CONCLUSION (1 paragraph)
-contains a restatement of what you said in your paper; or a comment which focuses your overall reaction; or a prediction of the effects of what you are reacting
-DO NOT include NO new information
