There is a war in my head
Between the thoughts that I dread
And the ones that give me hope
They fight for control of my scope
Sometimes the negative ones win
They make me feel like giving in
They tell me I'm not good enough
They make me see only the rough
But sometimes the positive ones prevail
They make me feel like I can sail
They tell me I'm strong and brave
They make me see beyond the grave
The war in my head never ends
It depends on how I defend
My mind is a battlefield
And I'm the one who has to wield
The weapon of choice is my voice
I can choose to listen or to rejoice
The war in my head is up to me
I can choose to lose or to be free
Between the thoughts that I dread
And the ones that give me hope
They fight for control of my scope
Sometimes the negative ones win
They make me feel like giving in
They tell me I'm not good enough
They make me see only the rough
But sometimes the positive ones prevail
They make me feel like I can sail
They tell me I'm strong and brave
They make me see beyond the grave
The war in my head never ends
It depends on how I defend
My mind is a battlefield
And I'm the one who has to wield
The weapon of choice is my voice
I can choose to listen or to rejoice
The war in my head is up to me
I can choose to lose or to be free
