NEW Globe’s Free FB + Viber promo: Everything you need to know
January 13 to February 13, 2015.

We all know Globe Telecom’s “free Facebook” promo is back—and this time, it comes with free Viber, too.
Here’s what you need to know about the offer.

By now, you’re probably aware about Globe Telecom’s free and (largely) unrestrained access to Facebook and Viber on mobile and desktop. The promo’s offered to all subscribers over a period leading up to Valentine’s Day—or more specifically, from January 13 to February 13, 2015.

But before you start counting down the days to all-day buffet access to the apps, you may want to brush up on what is or isn’t free under the carrier’s latest promotion to avoid accidental data charges.

Here's a compiled fact sheet on the “free Facebook with free Viber” promo based on responses from Globe’s senior VP for consumer mobile marketing Issa Cabreira.

1. All Globe mobile and Tattoo subscribers are entitled to the promo.
2. No maintaining balance is required (prepaid SIM owners, rejoice!).
3. To access Facebook for free, Globe users must text “FREEFB” to 8888. You only need to register once; daily registration is not required.
4. Customers subscribed to Globe’s Free Facebook offer may be shown ads for data packages.
5. The use of Facebook’s Messenger app is also free throughout the promo period.
6. Opening external links (from Yahoo, Twitter, etc.) will incur a standard fee of P5 per 15 minutes of usage unless registered to data packages like GoSurf.
7. Posting photos and videos on Facebook won’t incur data charges.
8. With the exception of YøùTùbé-embedded content, streaming videos posted on Facebook is likewise free of charge.
9. The use of the Viber app for mobile and desktop is free of charge. Users only need to download the corresponding app for mobile and/or desktop.
10. Globe’s Free Viber offer extends to calls, texts, and photo and video uploads between Viber users. Videos that take you to external links, however, will bring additional charges.
11. No in-app ads will be shown on Viber.

Hopefully, this will help you avoid carrier bill shock early in the new year.
