A guide to claiming PHP 6,000 yearly pension for senior citizens
In its continuous quest to serve its people better, the government has planned several programs that will benefit the majority of its citizens. One of which is the proposed Php500/ month or Php6, 000 / yearly pension to senior citizens in the Philippines.
The program proposed by DSWD is now in full swing and is called the Social Pension Program for Indigent Senior Citizens (SPISC) and has a total of Php17.9 billion budget.
However, it is sad that several senior citizens are not well informed whether they are allowed to be part of the program and how to apply for it.
Here are a few Frequently Asked Questions regarding the said program:
“Who are entitled to receive the Php6,000 a year pension?”
To be one of the entitled pensioner a person must be 60 years old or above and is not receiving any pension from the government or any personal institution.
The senior citizen must also have no efficient income and is not receiving any form of help from their relatives.
Senior citizens who are receiving Social Security System (SSS) and Government Service Insurance System (GSIS) are not entitled too.
"What are the Requirements in order to get a Php6, 000/ yearly pension for Senior Citizens?"
To be capable to receive your 6k a year pension, you must go to the City Social Welfare and Development Office or CSWDO or Office of the Senior Citizens Affair or OSCA and present the following requirements:
Senior Citizens ID
A certificate of indigence from CSWDO (this will be released upon submitting a Barangay Certificate of Residency and Assessment Report from CSWDO field office)
For those who have not get their Senior Citizens ID card yet, you just have to submit your birth certificate, a valid ID and a 1x1 photo to register.
Once registered, the social workers will assessed your case and send it to DSWD regional office for validation. Once entitled, DSWD will inform them when and how they can claim their pension.
