ROM (read-only memory)
Ito po yung physical memory, hindi po yung compilation ng lahat ng apps. In other words, ito po ay isang chip where your data is stored, it is not the data itself.
The memory is read-only because of the configuration (write permission is disabled) of the OS and file system mostly for security reasons but this can be edited through rooting.
(This is why rooting is bad because it can mess up your system files and file permissions if you don't know what you're doing!!)

Kernel (device-specific driver kung sa android)
A piece of software that links the hardware and a particular os. Kumbaga driver siya kung sa pc

Soft brick and hard brick

Ito naman magkaiba.
Yung "soft" brick is yung software lang ang nasira, pwede mo lang e nandroid restore or flash another tested working rom, problem solved.
Yung "hard" brick naman, nasira ang phone mo in the hardware level (e.g motherboard short circuit) and, of course, needs physical servicing.

Custom ROM (sometimes called firmware or more specifically the OS)
  • Di ko alam why it is named ROM when it is the OS.. maybe because the majority liked calling it like that and the community just went with the flow or;
  • It was meant to be ROM firmware, kase nasa read-only memory yung firmware hindi as RAM, but "Custom ROM firmware" was too long so the majority discarded it when mentioning and the community followed after.
I don't know for sure.. but
Lahat ng ROM na hindi factory installed or stock rom ay custom rom. May two types ng custom rom:
  • Official Custom ROM - ito ay maintained usually by a group who developed the ROM in general (e.g CyanogenMod developers)
  • Unofficial Custom ROM - ito ay maintained only by whoever decided to port the ROM to another usually unsupported device.
For those wanting to root, take note that just one missing important system file or wrong permission can cause bootloop.. say goodbye to your dog pictures there if that happens. So take some time to research! Always have a backup plan if ever anything happens. It always pays to be careful. Happy rooting! :)

May Stock ROM po kasi o yung ROM that comes with a device; the device is "stocked" with that ROM by the manufacturer. At may AOSP a ROM based on the Android Open Source Project. In the purest sense, AOSP refers to unmodified ROMs or code from Google. Technically, stock ROMs are all AOSP ROMs apart from the versions of Android that haven't been released

Log in or register now. is the old veteran (na ibinenta na ni Chainfire sa CCMT) Magisk is called a “systemless” root because it doesn’t touch any of those system files. It modifies the boot partition and leaves the system files untouched. Instead, the modifications are virtually overlayed on top of the original files. When something requests a system file, the modified version is sent in its place. But since all the system files are intact, SafetyNet can be tricked into thinking everything is normal. The aforementioned apps can still work on a rooted phone.

Ang point ko lang po kase e yung kaibahan ng stock ROM at custom ROM.. I didn't deny na merong AOSP ROMs haha but anyway tama naman po :)
