But that’s not all—microorganisms associated with the plants are present in the potting soil, and these microbes are also responsible for much of the cleaning effect.

2. Bamboo Palm: This plant is great at filtering out benzene and trichloroethylene, both of which can regularly creep into living spaces. It also helps to restore moisture that tends to dry due to indoor heating units. This is one of the top air purifying plants on NASA’s list with a purifying score of 8.4. It’s also great at removing formaldehyde, which could be making you ill. These plants need to be well-watered in indirect sunlight.


3. Peace Lily: Peace lilies are beautiful and can thrive without consistent water and sunlight. They can keep your air free of ammonia, formaldehyde, benzene trichloroethylene, xylene and toluene making it one of the best air purifying plants. These plants can be a stunning addition to your indoor space! Note: If you own or live with cats the Peace Lily is known to be extremely toxic to cats if they consume it.

4. Rubber Plant: The oxygen output of a rubber plant is higher than most other indoor plants, allowing it to purify more air in less time. It can be helpful in removing toxins and pollutants from the inside of homes. It is especially tough on formaldehyde. This plant can survive in low sunlight and low temperatures unlike most plants its size.

5. Chinese Evergreen: They say, the longer you keep a Chinese evergreen plant in your home, the more effective will it become at removing indoor toxins. It’s great at getting rid of benzene and formaldehyde. They are thought to bring good luck and were used as decoration in Asian countries long before they made it west.
 
We don't have plants inside the house. but because of this post I may want to try the idea... :)
