Now that you are tension free from the neck, shoulder and ribcage, you are ready for the "Vocal Exercise"
We call it the "Lip Trill".

What is a Lip Trill?

1. It brings an awareness of the many parts of the face and head that are involved when you speak and sing.
2. It is the safest way to venture into your highest notes without straining or pushing.
3. It helps the body produce the right lubrication for the leading edges of the vocal folds.
4. It serves as a natural decongestant since it helps vibrate loose any thick mucus in the sinuses and nasal passages.
5. This exercise is freeing you. It helps to warmup and relax our lips, so that we are better able to practise our diction when singing, as well as to wrap certain words or sounds with the vowels that we sing.

How to do the "Lip Trill"

Imagine yourself being cold and your lips produce the "brbrbrbr".​
Now release air while you do the "brbrbrbr sound".
Remember to inhale from the nose first and release "air" through the mouth with a "brbrbrbr sound" as if you were freezing.
Now time the sound while doing the first 2 steps... hold a timer while you do these steps altogether (brbrbrbr sound + air + 10 secs.duration ).
Repeat this until you feel relaxed and your breathing and air passages are clear.
One important point to note is that you should not be blowing air from your mouth by pursing your lips.
Your lips should be relaxed and the air should be controlled as you budget the air from your respiration.
If you are unable to let your lips vibrate freely, place one finger from each hand on each side of your face (near where dimples would usually be), and gently push into your cheeks, then push your fingers outwards to support your lips muscles.
Also this would help your facial muscles mantain its position and support the lip trill procedure.
