MANILA — No final decision has been made yet regarding Ara Galang’s chances of making it to La Salle’s lineup for the UAAP Season 78 women’s volleyball tournament says head coach Ramil de Jesus.
Four months after suffering from a torn ACL, Galang is well on her way to recovery but is yet to rejoin the Lady Spikers in training hence her absence in the 2015 Philippine National Games.

With the online community abuzz after a story was released referring to Galang and teammate Des Cheng, who also tore her ACL last week in an exhibition game, being in the sidelines next UAAP season, de Jesus calmly clarified the issue.

This, though, does not mean Galang will be suiting up for the Taft squad come January as everything will still depend on how the star spiker will recover physically and mentally from the injury.

“Depende siguro kung 100% ‘yung condition niya, walang problema. Kaya lang siyempre ‘yung psychological kasi ‘yung mabigat dun eh,” said the multi-titled coach.

Without the skipper, La Salle yielded and got swept in the finals of Season 77 when it faced rival Ateneo in the best-of-three series.

With one playing year left, it will be a tough call for the coaching staff whether they would risk Galang returning to the fold to solidify the team’s offense or let her miss the entire season for a bigger return in Season 79.

“Hindi ko masabi. Depende.

Asked about his other injured player Cheng, who is also a started for the Lady Spikers, de Jesus broke the bad news saying, “Si Des malabo. Hindi aabot ‘yun eh.”
