den2xMushi001 - it functions like IDM.. though I am not particularly familiar on the nitty gritty details of IDM functionality but most Flareget do the job ;-), by the way I am using Linux Lite

as a newbie nag-collect and tried almost all linux distro I can download and install directly on my hard drive.. pero I use one linux distro maybe for a month or two just to see what works for me, now I am using Linux Lite for more than a 3 years now and I love it!, I use it to edit pictures, music and videos (sideline ko hehehe) it is light and fast!.. kahit install mo sa lumang computer mabilis pa din!.. I bought my mom an old desktop Dell Computer sa tipidpc worth P1000.00 about two years ago, it comes with Windows XP but it runs really sssslllllooooowwwwww... so installed Linux Lite on it.. the difference on speed is like night and day! until now she's using it without any problem!, though she only use it for browsing the web, facebook, skype, watching videos and listening to music.

with regard to best app... I believe it depends on the user what really worked for him on a given situation, ako kasi I use linux for all my computer needs! I am not into computer games but my son does.. he loves linux lite as it natively support Steam!.. so if I were to suggest the best app on my own opinion, I would say:

1. GIMP (image/picture editor)
2. Cinelerra (video editting sofware) You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.
2.b OpenShot (easy to use video editting software) www.openshot.org/
3. Audacity (audio editting software)
4. Skype for Linux
5. MiniTube (YøùTùbé app for Linux)
6. TVTime (TV software for TV Tuner hardwares ) You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now.
7. Terminal!

For me this are the best apps I have on my Linux box ;-)..

Pwede mo i-install ang Linux Lite sa usb drive.. para ma-test mo mabuti yung hardware mo.. sa'kin kasi with the latest version ng Linux Lite, skype video calling is clear at malinaw yung video.. I have not experience any issues while using skype.. mas maganda kung ma-test mo muna yung computer mo, I suggest test it using a linux installed sa usb drive ! ;-)
