Is it your first time to the theatre? When you buy tickets for a theatrical production, it can be hard to decide what to wear. It seems like people are dressing more and more casual when they go out, but some events have remained a sense of class. These steps will make it easier to know what is appropriate.

Find something casual, but elegant. When someone says "casual", it doesn't always mean baggy jeans, a loose T-shirt, and sneakers. If you don't like dressing up, at least wear something respectful. For instance, girls can wear a clean skirt with a nice top and clean shoes. Boys can wear black trousers, a collared shirt, and a jacket with any clean shoes.

Double check that you aren’t overdressed. You want to look nice, but not like you’re trying too hard to be a celebrity!

If it is your second time going to see the show/musical and you have merchandise, flaunt it! T-shirts with the shows logo are definitely accepted.

Wear something that shows class. Pearls, pendants, rings. Looking classy contributes to the atmosphere of the production.

Wash and style your hair. Your hair is also vital. Don't go with scruffy hair that is tangled and needs a wash. Wash it the night before or in the morning. Girls: buns, loose curls, or straightened hair is encouraged. Boys: Do something with it. Whether it's slicking it back with gel, or parting it to the side.

Make sure you are dressed comfortably. Remember, it is not a fashion show. You will be sitting down for a couple of hours, so dress a little comfortable, while still remaining your elegance.

Do not wear anything too flashy, people want to watch the show, not your obnoxious clothing.
