The Elite came out blazing right from the get-go.

They held their rivals to just four field goals in the first period and in return, unloaded 23 points as Juami Tiongson and Riel Cervantes combined for 15 of the team’s total output in the first 10 minutes of play.

The Elite didn’t look back from there and they even padded their lead to as high as 47 points, 94-47, with the game was already decided.

Five players ended up in double figures for Blackwater led by Tiongson’s 16 markers to go along with three s†éáls.

Cervantes, rookie Keith Agovida and Bam Gamalinda contributed 11 apiece while Raphy Reyes scattered 10 points as Blackwater shot a steady 53-percent from the field while holding its rivals to a paltry 26-percent shooting.

Even 906 Melaka’s import, the 6-foot-10 Dion Spikes, had to bleed for his points. He ended up with only five points and 11 rebounds as the Elite was able to take him out of his sweet spot with their double teaming defense coming from the baseline.

There was one scary moment, though, which happened midway the third period.

Forward Gilbert Bulawan, who’s been playing well the past three games, injured his left ankle after a bad landing while trying to challenge Spikes’ short stab.

He had to be carried out of the court and was immediately attended by physical therapist Fro Labrador.

His ankle badly swollen, Bulawan wasn’t able to return to action and was ruled out by head coach Leo Isaac and team manager Johnson Martines for Sunday’s championship match against the NS Matrix at 4 p.m.

NX Matrix, a team defeated previously by Blackwater, outplayed Farcochem in the other semis match.
