A year ago, suggesting that Stephen Curry would win MVP and his Golden State Warriors would vanquish LeBron James to winÂÂ the NBA title would have probably drawn laughs except from the most loyal of fans.

Now, Steph is the MVP and the Warriors are champs after a historic NBA season.

Oh and they did beat James in an epic six-game Finals.

With Curry making his first trip to the Philippines, get to know more about the basketball world's new top babyface with these set of facts.

What difference a year makes.


1. His full name is Wardell Stephen Curry II

2. He is a second-generation NBA player, his father Dell famously played for the Charlotte Hornets and also had stints with the Utah Jazz and yes, the Cleveland Cavaliers.

3. Steph is the 2015 NBA Most Valuable Player, the first Warrior to win since Wilt Chamberlain back in . . .1960.

4. He broke Ray Allen's record for three-point field goals made for a season of 269 by draining 272 during the 2012-2013 season.

5. Steph made 273 in an April game last season and broke his own record. He finished the regular season with a total of 286.

6. He was born on March 14, 1988. Steph is 27 years old.

7. He was born in Akron, Ohio and in the same hospital as LeBron James just a few years prior.

8. Steph attended high school at the Charlotte Christian School.

9. He attended tiny Davidson College after not getting major interest from big NCAA Division I schools.

10. While in Davidson, a young Steph dropped 32 points in only his second game against Michigan.

11. In the 2008 NCAA Basketball Tournament, he led Davidson to the Elite 8 and the following year, led the nation in scoring at 28.6 points per game.

15. He loves playing golf. He recently played golf with none other than US President Barack Obama and has an Under Armour shoe dedicated to his other sport.

20. At 15 years old, he met a girl named Ayesha Alexander in a church youth group.

25. When he was eight-years-old, he played at halftime in the 1996 Nike Hoop Summit high school all-star game in Charlotte.
