Yahoo Sources: Metta World Peace has begun to work out daily at Lakers’ facility, inching closer to a return to franchise on one-year deal.

The Lakers have been flirting with the idea of bringing back World Peace, but as You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now. suggests, it may be as a mentor for Julius Randle:

"Metta and Randle have been spending a lot of time in the gym together - Lakers like the relationship/impact thus from from MWP"

World Peace was waived by the Lakers with the amnesty clause back in 2013. The veteran forward eventually ended up signing with the New York Knicks, but only played 29 games before asking to be bought out by the team in February of 2014.

After agreeing to part ways with the Knicks in a buyout, World Peace headed overseas. Metta played in China and Italy while keeping his hopes alive for a return to the NBA.

With the Lakers bringing in a lot of different players to add to the training camp roster, it remains uncertain where the team stands in terms of bringing in World Peace. The team currently has 12 players with guaranteed contracts moving forward meaning World Peace may ultimately end up being cut at some point between now and when the final roster comes out.

The Lakers will get the preseason underway on Oct. 4 with the team flying to Honolulu, Hawaii to face the Utah Jazz for two games. Los Angeles will have six other preseason games before heading into the regular season on Oct. 28 against the Minnesota Timberwolves.
