The Lakers, the first to sit down with LaMarcus Aldridge consisted of a host of team executives, led by Mitch Kupchak, Jeanie Buss, Byron Scott, James Worthy and Kobe Bryant. Kobe, who sat in on the Lakers meeting with Dwight Howard in 2013, but missed their session with Carmelo Anthony last summer, was "very good" in the meeting, according to one person who was in the room.
Per Ramona Shelburne: "LaMarcus seemed completely focused." "It's always hard to gauge how a meeting really went, but the Lakers felt better about this meeting with Aldridge than they did with Dwight or Melo. The meeting lasted approximately 2 hours.
▪Though some around the NBA feel a sign-and-trade would make sense for the Blazers, as they can possibly get some assets if Aldridge leaves, the team is showing no interest in discussing such a move. If teams want his services, they’ll have to make their own way to create cap space to sign Aldridge.
▪Several teams, including the Lakers, have reached out to express interest in signing Ed Davis and Jordan Hill, said a league source. The Lakers called Ed Davis shortly after midnight, but several teams could come with offers today to test the Lakers resolve on keeping him. (via Adrian Wojnarowski)
▪According to Chris Broussard: The Lakers are also interested in Tyson Chandler & Robin Lopez
▪ It'll be a busy Wednesday for Lakers execs: They're in DC for a noon meeting with Greg Monroe, then will fly back to LA and meet with DeAndre Jordan.
