Gilas Pilipinas continues their William Jones Cup Invitational campaign with a victory over Japan (75-60) on Wednesday, September 2 at the Xinchuang Gymnasium in New Taipei City, Taiwan.

Log in or register now., Gilas Pilipinas rookie Terrence Romeo showed another solid performance as he led the team to victory with 16 points and four rebounds, while Filipino-Tongan standout and number one pick of the 2015 PBA Rookie Draft Moala Tautuaa chipped in 10 points, including two huge dunks in the fourth quarter and six rebounds.

Gilas Pilipinas veteran Ranidel de Ocampo, who scored the most in their game against Spartak Primorye, also played a great game. He scored a total of ten points and six rebounds.

With the win, the Philippine national basketball team now holds a record of three wins and one loss. The teams moves into a three-way tie at second place with Chinese Taipei A and Russia’s Spartak Primorye, while Japan remains winless.

Gilas Pilipinas is set to face Iran, which is on the lead with a record of four wins and one loss, at 1:00 PM on Thursday, September 3.

Coach Tab Baldwin said in a previous interview that he doesn’t have any expectations in the William Jones Cup and what he really wants is for Gilas Pilipinas to play well and continue to grow as a team.

After the 37th William Jones Cup Invitational, Gilas Pilipinas will name its Final 12 who will compete in the the 2015 FIBA Asia Men’s Championship.
