LA SALLE never received a formal invitation from Shakey's V-League organizers for the coming Collegiate Conference and don’t plan to see action as they wait for a response from the league about their demand for an apology for previously declaring that the Lady Spikers are “banned for life.”

Coach Ramil de Jesus broke his silence on the issue on Sunday, refuting a recent statement by Sports Vision president Ricky Palou that the multi-titled coach was behind the school’s decision to pull out of the league’s next tournament featuring colleges and university teams.

The V-League earlier listed the La Salle Lady Spikers among the participants in its Collegiate Conference, but a La Salle official later clarified the tournament is not part of their calendar in preparation for the UAAP.

De Jesus added the school never received a formal invitation from the league, and only got a text message of a coaches’ meeting.

Pagdating ko doon, wala namang invitation, walang black and white na dumating sa office,” said De Jesus.

“Even ’yung director namin, wala namang nababanggit (about invitation). Sabi ko, 'Eh ‘di wala. Wala tayong dapat sagutin dahil wala namang dumating na formal invitation. Kaya tahimik ang La Salle,” De Jesus said.

De Jesus also noted that La Salle had declared the Lady Spikers “banned for life” when the team had to pull out of one conference at the last minute due to injuries to several players, which apparently didn’t sit well with league officials.

“Sila ’yung may kasalanan, hindi ako,” said De Jesus, who led the Lady Spikers to three V-League titles, in reference to Palou’s statements.

Ipipilit mo?”

After that incident, the newspaper report of the La Salle ban came out, De Jesus claimed.

“Quoted naman sila doon. Naka-dyaryo pa ’yun. Hanggang ngayon, hawak namin ’yung diyaryo,” De Jesus added.

De Jesus said La Salle team managers are only asking for a public apology and the Lady Spikers could play in the league again.

Mabigat ’yung binitiwan nila na ’yun,” said De Jesus.

“’Yung time na nagpalit ng management after ni Mr. (Philip) Juico, sabi ng mga alumni, sasali kami. Wala namang problema.

“’Yun ang puno’t dulo nun,” said De Jesus.

De Jesus said La Salle would have wanted to join the V-League if they have ample preparation and all issues have been ironed out.
