After the worst win percentage in franchise history, the Los Angeles Lakers had a solid off-season, highlighted by drafting D’Angelo Russell and trading for Roy Hibbert. While Russell struggled during Summer League, there are high expectations for the No. 2 pick.

In an interview with You do not have permission to view the full content of this post. Log in or register now., Russell spoke about numerous topics including the team’s goal. While the Western Conference will be extremely competitive, Russell essentially guaranteed Los Angeles will make the playoffs this season:

“Expectations are high,” Russell says, “but this Lakers squad will most definitely be a playoff team.”

While the Lakers have a nice blend of veterans and prospects, there appears to be one spot available in the Western Conference this upcoming season. With the Portland Trail Blazers and Dallas Mavericks likely falling out of contention, the Oklahoma City Thunder will earn a spot if Kevin Durant and Russell Westbrook remain healthy.

Heading into the new season, there is excitement with the returns of Kobe Bryant and Julius Randle from their season-ending injuries. Along with Russell, Jordan Clarkson looks to take the next step in his development after earning All-Rookie First Team honors.
