MANILA — One of the most awaited new names to make their debut in the 12th Shakey’s V-League is Ateneo de Manila University’s Kat Tolentino.
Towering over the rest of the Lady Eagles, Tolentino was being dubbed as the Katipunan squad’s next bet to stardom, even getting comparisons with ‘The Phenom’ Alyssa Valdez.
Unfortunately, during the warm-up of her team’s maiden voyage in this year’s V-League, the spiker landed badly while doing some spiking drills before the match.
“We don’t know yet. I’m not sure what it is.” Tolentino told Rivals while wearing an immobilizer at the sidelines Saturday at the FilOil Flying V Arena.
“I just landed and fell funny, I think. It was during a spike during the warm-up.” she added.
With this development, Tolentino will be joining teammates Alyssa Valdez and Therese Gaston, who are also nursing injuries, in the sickbay.
Pending a check-up on Monday, the spiker adds, “I’m not sure what it is. I just fell. On a scale of one to ten, it’s like, maybe eight or seven. I’m not sure if it’s swollen. We don’t know yet.”
For now, Tolentino chooses to stay positive, hoping that it is a minor setback which she can bounce back from as soon possible.
“We’ll see what will happen next. I’ll see a doctor on Monday. But we’re hoping for the best.” she closed.
