“Real GDP growth for 2024 was revised slightly to 6.2 percent from the January WEO forecast of six percent, reflecting carryover from a better-than-expected outturn in the last quarter of 2023,” IMF resident representative Ragnar Gudmundsson said in an email to The STAR. Inflation in the Philippines is expected to average 3.6 percent this year before easing further to three percent in 2025. Both projections are lower than the six percent full-year inflation in 2023. Inflation accelerated to 3.7 percent in March from 3.4 percent in February, marking its second straight month of uptick. This prompted the BSP to keep borrowing costs elevated after it raised interest rates by 450 basis points from May 2022 to October 2023. Source ...

You’ve won at something, Metro Manila, but congratulations are not in order: Last year, the country’s capital had the worst traffic congestion among 387 metro areas in the world, based on the 2023 TomTom Traffic Index. “Tell me something I don’t know,” you might be saying from where you’re currently sat in traffic (not behind the wheel, we hope—just a reminder that ADDA is real). Okay, allow us to give you several stats to provide some truly depressing context. Metro Manila’s ranking rose by one last year versus in 2022, beating Colombia’s Bogota, which now drops to fifth place. AI.com now directs to X.ai and according to the Way Back Machine, the website was in the hands of OpenAI until at least July 29, at which point it was not operational but still bore the symbol of...

Can you believe it's been 20 years already since the world's most resilient torrent website was created? Founded in 2003 by the Swedish anti-copyright group Piratbyrån (“Bureau of Piracy”), the site is still as relevant today as it was back then. The site's creators, it's Admin, 'Winston' and the TPB Crew are all staunch defenders of information piracy and freedom of speech. Censorship is abhorrent and always will be. DMCA takedown notices are never complied with, and often ridiculed by staff. Hollywood has tried and failed to end the site many times, and even googly-eyed non-entity Kanye West once declared war on TPB. Most of the current TPB Crew have been here for well over 10 years, many for much, much longer, and we're proud to be...
